Python is relatively unknown compared to Java, C/C++/C#, and Perl, but Python is one of the "Tools" of the software development trade that are very capable and would be a mistake to dismiss or overlook. For many companies, such as Red Hat, Nokia, Google, NASA, Industrial Light and Magic, and many others have found Python to be a powerful language that has become important to help them become as agile and fast moving as they can.

For instance here's a quote from Peter Norvig, Director of Search Quality at Google "Python has been an important part of Google since the beginning, and remains so as the system grows and evolves. Today dozens of Google engineers use Python, and we're looking for more people with skills in this language."
